Mold needs moisture and a cold surface. Overture Room Sensors track both the moisture in the air and the temperature, so you can see when a space is heading toward trouble.

Dew point is the key number. It is the temperature at which water vapor in the air begins to condense (measured in °F). When a surface in the building, a window, an exterior wall, an uninsulated pipe, drops to or below the dew point, condensation forms and mold has what it needs.

Relative humidity (RH) is the more familiar number, but it is the derived one: RH is the partial pressure of water vapor in the air compared to the saturation pressure at that temperature, expressed as a percentage. Because RH moves with temperature, it can read "fine" in one room and dangerous in another at the same moisture level. Dew point does not move with temperature, so it is the more reliable predictor of condensation and mold risk. Overture tracks both, and acts on them.
